Baby Bump Update - 2nd Edition

I'm back with another baby bump update, you can see the first one here.  Since my last update, I've been to the doctor for a checkup, gotten sick with some sort of yucky cold and officially had to go shopping for clothes.  Here are a few more updates:

Dr. Update:
I went to the doctor about a week ago and all is well.  I've gained a total of 4 pounds and the baby's heart rate is going strong.  That's about it.  They really dont take alot of time for chit chat.

Clothes:
I'm still not wearing the maternity pants, they just fall down and are annoying.  So, I'm still wearing my regular pants and just looping them together with rubber bands.  I went shopping and got a few shirts.  I'm not loving maternity clothes, I think they're not that cute.  So, I'm trying to find 'regular' clothes that are long enough to fit.  I guess once I get super big, I'll have to switch to maternity clothes full time.  Oh boy!

Bump:
Last time I posted week 13 and 15 pic (we skipped week 14) so here are the next few weeks. Some of our pictures are not turning out as model-esk as I'd like, but here they are none the less.

Week 16

Week 17

Week 18

Food:
I'm doing my best to eat healthy.  To be honest, I'm really just craving sweets but I'm trying to stay away as much as possible.  Although, I did buy a gallon of ice cream the other day.  I'm also trying to bring healthy snacks with me to work. It's harder to eat healthy on the weekends though.

Movement:
I'm feeling the baby move more now although I wouldn't say it's regular.  It still not really like a kick or a punch or anything, just a rolling around type of motion.  It still surprises me when it happens though.

Mood Swings:
I've gotten confirmation from my hubby that my mood swings are better.  I'm not feeling very moody but I thought I'd ask him just in case.  :)

We're going to the doctor in a few weeks to find out what we're having.  We're so excited!  I'm ready to know if our baby is a boy or girl, it seems like we'll be able to make more decisions once we know what it is.  You know. . . like a name, decor, registry items, etc.  We're very excited to find out.  :)

A Very Merry Bridal Shower

My sister is getting married in February (wooo hoo!) so we recently threw her a 'Yellow and Gray Shabby Chic' bridal shower at my grandmothers house.  I'm not sure it really had a specific theme, but it turned out to be a great shower regardless.  My sister looked beautiful in her new purple dress.  My cousin Andria is a direct descendant of Martha Stewart (you know in terms of her creativeness) and she made the most amazing things with her new Cricut.

My favorite feature was our cupcake table.  My cousin made individual cupcake wrappers and the cutest banner I've ever seen.  Don't you just love it?!  We ordered the most wonderful cupcakes I've ever had.  I'm not sure who made them (I can't remember the ladies name) but they were so delicious - like heaven in your mouth.  Haha.  We had chocolate, strawberry, lemon, vanilla, and red velvet cupcakes.  I'm telling you - they were awesome!

A close-up of the chocolate cupcake.

We decorated the tables with fresh roses and candles.  My cousin also cut out individual flowers from left over shower invitations and other stationary.  Those cutout flowers added so much to the table decorations, I just love the way they turned out.

We had a delicious buffet with lots of yummy food made by moms, cousins, and good friends.  Our friend made this yummy punch with ice cream and pineapple juice and whatever else but it was super yummy too.  It all was really great.

The sign in table with the engagement pictures I took.

All the bridesmaids were there.

The mothers and grandmothers were there too!

The shower was great and everyone was so helpful and really did so much to make this come together.  With me being out of town from the other hostesses and the location, I wasn't able to help as much as I had wanted to.  So really, the credit belongs to the other hostesses.  Most importantly, the bride was happy which is what matters most.  :)

So now the countdown to the wedding begins.

Random Thoughts on Friday

As soon as I can get a free night, I'm going to post about my sisters bridal shower and show you all the wonderful pics!   But for today, I'm really busy so I just wanted to leave you with a few of my recent random thoughts, mostly occurring while in the shower.  (sorry, TMI)

1.  It's too cold for Texas.  I like Texas because it's not a cold place. . . I don't like this weather.  But I seem to remember a post or two about how hot it is in Texas, hmmm. . . maybe I just don't like the outdoors.

2.  So, what's up with the zodiac signs changing?  And why should I care?  Do you care?  Someone brought up a good point though, what about all those peeps who had their signs tattooed on their body, I would be pissed!

3.  How in the heck are you supposed to know what to buy for your baby?  I am overwhelmed by the thought of which stroller and car seat to buy.  Can't I just decorate the room instead of worrying about the safety, cost, efficiency of baby items?  Is there a list of the best items to buy that I can trust and that won't require me to spend hours researching all over the web?

4.  Is it bad that I haven't taken down my Christmas decorations yet? . . . and I may not take them down this weekend either.  Just sayin'

5.  Why do people get in the HOV lane and drive slower than the cars outside of the HOV lane?  WHY!  I do not understand this.  Granted not everyone wants to drive 20 miles over the speed limit like me, but at least drive the speed limit!  AND - if you see 45 cars lined up behind you, you should move over or speed up.  Am I the only one who thinks this is common sense?  SIGH.

6.  Why does all the music on the 'pop' radio stink so bad?  Does anyone sing anymore?  Or is music just electro-voice track over some techno beats?  If that's music, can I do that?  I would probably only be popular if I wore a meat dress or had purple hair.  I'd also have to come up with some ridiculous name.  I think I'm becoming more of a country music fan.  Anyone else thing Taylor Swifts last album is not really a country album?

7.  Why did I make so much spaghetti for dinner the other day?  I've been eating it forever.  Good thing I like spaghetti.  :)

8.  Is this post boring?

Hmm, so for better or for worse, those are some random thoughts from a moody pregnant woman.

Happy weekend to you all!

Baby Bump Update

So... my pregnancy has been going really smoothly, I feel so lucky.  I haven't really felt pregnant very many days, especially in terms of my bump.  Here are some updates on what's going on with me and baby.

Clothes:
I feel like I'm not really showing much.  I'm still able to wear most of my same clothes although I'm having to loop a rubber band through my pants button and wear longer shirts.  I didn't gain much weight in my first trimester, so that's good.

Bump:
We're trying to take pictures weekly, but at first it felt like I'd be taking a picture of nothing.  Once I started to feel like my belly might start to show soon, we started taking pics.

13 weeks

We missed week 14.  I think that was the Sunday after
Christmas and who knows what we were doing that day.

15 weeks

I have noticed that my belly button is spreading out a little.  It's weird because I didn't expect that yet.  I used to have a very skinny deep belly button (I'm not sure you care about this) and now it's kinda of wider and not as deep.

Food:
I haven't really had any weird cravings.  However, I am the cliche pregnant woman in my desire for pickles and ice cream.  Not together of course, because that would be nasty.  I've always loved pickles and now I'm eating them like a world class pickle eater (what?).  I think I go through at least a jar a week.  They're just SO good.  I'm also wanting ice cream, but not as much as I want pickles.  But hey, if you have some ice cream, sure I'll take some - no problem!

Sleep:
I'm sleeping pretty well.  I'm not getting up during the night as much as I was at first.  I'm still really tired though.  I guess that's God's way of preparing you for a lifetime of no sleep with children.  :)

Warmth:
Yeah so I'm never warm, like ever.  Well expect for the occasional fury of fire that is a hot flash.  So aside from the few hot flashes I've had, I'm always cold.  At home, at work, at church, at friends houses, in the car - Everywhere!  I'm sure my husband finds me oh so attractive in my now-regular wardrobe of slippers, pajama pants and a hoodie.  I got an electric blanket for Christmas and it's my new best friend.  :)

Movement:
I think I felt the baby move this week.  I mean, I don't know what else it could be, but it's hard to explain - it's like a weird rolling sensation.  Really cool, but a little freaky at first.

Mood Swings:
Let's just say - YES!  Ya'll please pray for my poor husband.  I'm not sure he likes me anymore and I can't say I blame him.  Hopefully, I'll learn to control these crazy emotional outbursts. . . hopefully.

Hmm, what else do you want to know?  Or do you not care?  Either way, the baby is doing good, as far as I know.  We're going back to the doctor next week, so hopefully we'll have a good report.

Love ya,
Stef
