Holidays Are Upon Us

Wow - I can't believe that October is coming to a close and we're about to hit the holidays.  Guess I need to start thinking about Christmas shopping.  I like to have a few ideas written down of what to get people so I don't have to wonder aimlessly through the mall.  I do kinda like to wonder through the mall but not during the holidays.  Anywho!  I'm not here to talk about that - I'm here to tell you about the cutest outfits that my friend Tamara has available in her Etsy Store.

She has several Thanksgiving and Christmas outfits.  My favorite is the My 1st Christmas!  Isn't it adorable?!

Yummy Taco Soup - Getcha Some

I've had a few friends ask for my recipe for taco soup.  This is one of our favorite meals.  For Curtis - because it's yummy.  For me - because it's easy. . . oh and also yummy.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey meat or hamburger meat
1 can chicken broth
1 can rotel tomatoes
1 can kernel corn
1 can pinto beans
1 packet of ranch dressing mix
1 packet of taco seasoning

Directions:
- brown meat in large pot
- stir in all other ingredients and bring to a boil
- Enjoy!

I sometimes add garlic or other seasonings if I'm feeling more 'spicy'.  I serve mine over rice (because everything in my house is served with rice) and I put shredded cheese on top.

Micah is 3 Months Old

Our baby boy is now 3 months old!  He is changing and growing everyday.  He's such a sweetheart!

We went to the doctor (as you know) and Micah now weighs 12lbs. 7oz.  He is such a happy baby and is starting to 'talk' more now.  I love his coos and sweet baby sounds.  He's now smiling at you when you talk to him and he has found his hands.  He hasn't yet found his feet though.

He's all about chewing on his hands and slobbering all over the place.  He is still spitting up a lot but it's not as bad as it used to be.  But now it sometimes comes out his nose - how lovely!

He's gotten so strong and is constantly kicking and moving his feet.  He likes to be straight; meaning he wants to stand or be held facing forward.  He really doesn't like to be cradled or sit.  I literally have to bend his body for him to get him to sit - so we're going to work on that.

He's started to put a few things in his mouth.  I've seen him able to grab something that's by his side and bring it to his mouth.  He hasn't yet reached for a toy but we'll keep working on that one too.

He's sleeping through the night consistently now.  Usually from about 8 - 9:30ish until 5 - 7ish.  So pretty much 8 hours every night. I'm letting him nap a little longer if he wants and will sometimes go 4 hours between feedings.   

He loves his animal activity mat.  He'll lay there forever and play with the elephant and zebra.  He's now able to grab onto the animals and sometimes put them in his mouth.  He talks to them.  He's now started scooting and kicking a lot and will sometimes scoot off of the play mat a little bit or turn sideways.

We're so happy our baby is healthy and happy and doing well!   Maybe I'll get a video up next time. :)

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you're enjoying your day and looking forward to the weekend.  I know I am!  We've been so busy over the last two week (thus the lack of posts) that I'm so looking forward to a weekend of relaxing.  Here's some of what's been going on and other random thoughts.

1.  I got my haircut this week.  See:

2.  My brother in law came over last weekend and built a custom media cabinet for the inset in our living room.  Here is a picture of it 95% done.  We'll finish painting this weekend and I'll post an updated pic then.  Didn't he do and awesome job?  SO much better than the random hole we had there before!

3.  Blogger is driving me crazy.  It takes me FOREVER to upload pics to this blog.  And once they do upload them it uploads them sideways.  So then I go back to the pic, turn it the opposite way, re-upload and it still uploads it sideways.  So then I have to go back to the pic and turn in right side up and try uploading it again. This goes on for hours.  It is more than frustrating.  I need help!  Blogger - do something or I may have to leave this platform!  This is why Micah's three month post is not up yet - pictures!  Ugh!

4.  I've been reading several books lately.  I just finished Three Weeks With My Brother - by Nicholas Sparks.  I love all his books and this one is not a novel but a book about this trip around the world he took with his brother.  Pretty good book.  His new book is coming out next week and I've already pre-ordered it from Amazon - can't wait to get it!

5.  Every day we take a picture and send it to daddy so he'll have a good day at work.  Here's yesterdays picture from hanging out at my cousins house. Micah says, "what up!"

Today marks the 100th week that Chelsea has been hosting Ten on Tuesday.  You go girl!  This weeks questions are provided by Chelsea and she's conducting a drawing to celebrate her 100th ToT post.  WooHoo!

1. How do you take your coffee?
A little coffee, a lot of cream and sugar

2. Do you prefer soft or crispy chocolate chip cookies?
Crispy or soft right out of the oven

3. Do you wear a belt everyday?
Um. . . I used to, then I had a baby and now my belts don't fit the same. . so no.

4. What is your favorite color combination?
Probably green and blue

5. Do you like sour candy?
Yes, but I prefer sweet

6. How often do you do laundry?
Um. . . every 3-4 days I guess


7. Did you ever wear braces?
Yes.  My orthodontist was a butt hole 

8. Are you good at Roman Numerals?
eh. . . so so 

9. What is your favorite form of social media?
Hmm, videos that go viral or well thought out contests.  Companies that engage in social media need to have conversations with their customers, not just one sided 'pushes' of generic content - boring!

10. How do you feel about chin dimples?
Cute on babies, creepy on old dudes
