Five on Friday. . . again

Hey!  It's Friday again!  Whoooo-hoooo!  I have been wanting to blog about all kinds of things but life has been pretty busy lately.  I'm hoping to catch up on my blog posts soon but this weekend is also very busy so we'll see.  So, I apologize for posting Five on Fridays two weeks in a row, but it's my blog and you have to deal with it.  ;)

1.  I watched the wedding of William and Kate!  Don't get me wrong, I most certainly DID NOT wake up at 3am to watch it, but I did DVR it and fast forward 90% of it this morning, which takes longer than you think.  I can't imagine what it must have felt like to get married in front of the whole world.  I am a little sad that their wedding was so incredibly formal and not very personal but what can you expect from the British Royalty, right?!  I thought Kate's dress was very beautiful and she looked amazing but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a little bit more 'princess-ey'.  I didn't really expect the grandeur of Princess Diana but I expected a little bit more.  Either way - still beautiful!

2.  I get to see my mommy and daddy this weekend.  Whenever I'm missing them I call them mommy and daddy.  They are going to come visit Sunday afternoon. . . Yay!

3.  I led a client meeting this week, which happens often, but this time my account manager was on the phone.  Afterwards she told me I said "ya'll" too much.  This is a bummer because I didn't realize I did that AND I'm born and raised in Texas. . . how can I not say Ya'll?!  Guess I will try.  I made a note and put it on my keyboard.

4.  I want to show ya'll (catch that?) this website that I visit often.  It's called Cheap Chic Daily.  It's the cutest blog.  They post all kinds of fashion items that they've found for good prices.  I especially love the posts where they show you the cheap, cheaper, cheapest version of a shoe or a bag or whatever.  Very helpful in making a fashionista wish list - cause if I bought everything I liked, I'd be broke.  Check them out!

5.  I'm attending my first 'mom' event today.  Our Sunday school class has a moms group and they schedule events for the moms to do.  This is a working moms lunch close to my office so I can actually attend.

I hope you (not ya'll) have a great weekend!

Take Care,
Stef

Five on Friday

Happy Good Friday Everybody!  Guess what - I have to work today. . . do you?  I bet you don't - I think I'm the only one.  Oh well.  Today's post is Five on Friday. . . this really has nothing to do with Ten on Tuesday, it's just that I'm - you know - THAT creative and witty.  ;)

1.  It's Easter! Yay. I love this holiday because it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and what is better than that?! NOTHING. And without his resurrection - he would be just a prophet or a man of 'the church'. . . . but because he rose from the dead that makes him GOD! And it makes him our saviour. And that is an un-measurable gift - free to you and me and it's worth celebrating! FYI - Easter is SO not about the candy and the Easter bunny. Just sayin'

2.  We took a infant CPR and safety class last night.  I'm really glad we did because we felt totally unprepared if we ever had an emergency in the future.  I'm glad that the steps aren't that hard.  I was afraid it'd be really complicated or something I couldn't remember.  We also learned how to deal with chocking and how to install the car seat properly.  Maybe we'll be good parents after all.  ;)

3.  I actually want to watch the wedding of William and Kate.  I mean who doesn't want to see a princess in her wedding dress?!  Plus, my mom always told me I should marry Prince William (don't worry Curtis - that was before she met you) and so I have to see what my wedding would have looked like.  Haha - just kidding.  I do like celebrity gossip and nonsense so I think this is the perfect event to waste some time on.  ;)  I hope her dress is amazing AND I really want that blue dress from when they announced their engagement.

4.  I am SUPER excited about a creative project I'm working on with one of my friends.  I think this endeavor will be successful and a lot of fun.  We're in the setup / trial stages so I'll tell you more about it in the coming weeks.  I'll aslo make an announcement when we're ready.  YES - It does have something to do with Etsy - of course!!!

5.  Bummer News - I think I mentioned this for a moment but our car was broken into last week.  They busted out the back drivers side window and took a bag I had of personal papers.  To-do lists, journal, bible study book, research on different things, and probably bills of some sort.  This was at Fudruckkers by the way - and they don't have video cameras in their parking lot.  So, please, next time you go somewhere, park where you (or someone) could see your car from the restaurant.  Since I couldn't remember exactly what was in the bag we had to replace all our credit cards, put a watch on our credit and I'm still trying to update all of our accounts / auto-drafts with the new credit card info. . . such a pain in the . . . um . . . neck!

6.  Ok I had to add a #6 because I can't end a Friday (especially GOOOOD Friday) talking about our car being broken into.  Maybe I should call this post Six on Saturday and post it tomorrow. . . but I won't.  Um . . let's see. . . Oh yeah.  I'm meeting with a photographer tonight to talk about an infant, 6 month, 1 year photo shoot for our baby boy.  I really love the newborn photos with them all curled up in a ball and sleeping - so cute!

I hope you all have a great weekend, enjoy some time with friends and family and take some time to think about what Easter and the resurrection of Christ means to you.

Love ya!

I'm Here to Report. . .

A good checkup from the Dr!  I'm 30 weeks pregnant this week and we went in yesterday for an ultrasound to check on my placenta previa and see our baby boy.  I'm happy to report all is great!  He's doing really well and right on track with his growth.  Praise God for a healthy baby!

We saw baby fingers and toes, little feet and knees, hair, and a button nose.  He was sucking his lips during the ultrasound and kicking me.  He didn't really want to move his hand away from his face so we didn't get a good pic of his face.  It does look like he has chubby cheeks though!

The ultrasound tech and the Dr. both said everything looks really great.  He weighs approx. 3lbs. 8oz. right now.  They said his heart, brain, stomach, kidneys, etc. all look good.  He's still a boy so that's good . . ya know. . . since we already painted the room.  ;)

I also don't have placenta previa anymore which means I don't have to have a c-section (unless something else comes up). YAY!   If you want to know what placenta previa is just Google it, it's not gross. I'm not sure I would recommend an image search though, no telling what you'd find.

I'll upload a few of the ultrasound pics in my next baby bump update.  They weren't great pics, it's sometimes so hard to tell what they're taking a picture of.

What I'm NOT happy to report is that we waited almost 3 HOURS for the dang ultrasound.  They told me ahead of time that they'd have to "work me in" but I thought that meant like a 30 - 45 min delay - maybe an hour.  3 hours is SLIGHTLY RIDICULOUS!  Or alot ridiculous actually.  I was so upset by the time I actually got in to the ultrasound room.  Then I still had to see the Dr. which made us late for another appointment we had made for later in the afternoon.  I mean I really didn't want to waste 3 hours of my precious vacation time to sit in a very uncomfortable chair with a baby kicking me in the ribs.  COME ON PEOPLE!

Ok - I just had to vent.  Thank you!

At least the Dr. apologized but I will never agree to be "worked in" again.  Not happenin sista!

Anyways, we're just happy to have a good report from the Dr.  We're praying he'll continue to grow and be healthy until he's ready to meet the world.

Take Care!  Talk to ya soon.

Dance Your Shoes Off

On April 10th, our church hosted "Dance Your Shoes Off" at Discovery Green.  According to our website. . .  "The purpose of Dance Your Shoes Off! was to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a powerful and celebratory way. Most importantly, each participant left a new pair of shoes on the field for those in need. These shoes will be given to mission agencies, including Star of Hope, as well as distributed to those on mission trips with the church this next year."

Check out the video!  It's pretty cool to see that many people doing a coordinated dance.  It's also really cool that they donated that many shoes!

Ten on Tuesday

Hi All.  Today's questions are provided by Lisa and hosted by Chelsea.  Enjoy!

1. If you work, do you drive to work or take public transportation?
My hubby and I carpool so we can take the HOV lane.  I wake up at 5:45ish to get dressed and hop in the car.  I drop him off around 7am then I go to work where I eat breakfast, put on my makeup, read, etc. in the car then I go into work at 8.  It's a glamorous life I live.  But we sure do love zooming by everyone stuck on the highway on the way home!

2. How often do you get your haircut? Do you go to the same person every time?
About twice a year.  I want to find a hairdresser in  my area but I don't really know anyone around who could recommend a hair dresser.  So, I go to the same salon every time (like 3 times now) but I've had different people.  I'm thinking it's time for another visit very soon.

3. Do you read the newspaper? If so, a hard copy or the online version?
I don't really read the newspaper.  I'll watch the news sometimes and I'll read online articles from different sources.  I wouldn't really say I'm up on current events. . . just kinda familiar with them.

4. What is the best book you have read this year?
Uhhhh. . . I've read several books this year and am in the process of reading like 3 or 4 more right now.  The book I'm reading most frequently is my bible study book "When Wallflowers Dance" by Angela Thomas.  I'm enjoying it so far.

5. What is the best movie you have seen this year?
I really cannot remember the last time I went to the movies.  I THINK it was with my hubby and his friend Chris to see Iron Man 2 (was that in 2011?!) but I'm not positive.  The last movie I remember liking was when I rented Letters to Juliet a few months ago.  It was really good!  I'll have to ask my hubby what the last move I saw was.  ;)

6. Do you tend to crave sweet or salty foods?
SWEET!  Like I've said, I have an over the top sweet tooth right now.  I always have a sweet tooth but I can usually control it better than I have been able too lately.  I'm scared that I'll make my son have a fierce sweet tooth. . . all he's being fed is sugar!

7. Do you eat breakfast every day? If so, what do you have?
I'd like to say I eat a healthy, balanced breakfast every day, but usually it's just a granola bar; sometimes yogurt or string cheese and some sort of juice.  I'm not one for cooking breakfast much, especially when I get up at 5:45 and leave by 6:15.  Preparing breakfast is just not in the schedule that early in the day.  Good thing my honey loves me anyway!

8. If you celebrate Easter, what Easter treat/candy are you most looking forward to?
Yum. . . anything chocolate.  I do like to have a peep or two or ten.  I'm not all into those cadbury eggs or the malt eggs, but most anything is game when it comes to candy!

9. How late is “sleeping in” to you?
Well I think sleeping in is like 10am. . . but usually I try to be up between 8:30 - 9:30 at the latest.  Lately we've had so much going on that if I slept any later than that, I'd be running late all day.  So I think 9 is a good time to wake up on the weekends.  We'll see if our future newborn agrees with me.  ;)

10. Where are you going on your next vacation?
Well, we aren't taking a vacation in 2011 - ya know, with the arrival of a kid and all.  So we've been talking about taking a big vacation when he turns one.  So, the summer of 2012, I'd like to be on a beach or a cruise somewhere. . . just for a few days.  I'm not sure how long I'll be able to leave my baby!

Have a Happy Tuesday!

Making Even More Progress

I've shown you a few things about the baby's room before but now we have even more done thanks to my wonderful hubby!  He's been able to get a lot done and even put up with me at the same time.  :)

This is the room once it was completely painted. You can't tell a huge difference between the wall color and the ceiling color in this pic but I love the way it turned out!

Then my honey put the crib together. I wasn't here for this process but I do have before and after pics of his handiwork! Curtis did a great job!  I put some of the bedding on just to see what it looked like.  I know it'll all have to come off again to be washed but I don't care.  :)

Then a few days later, we put the changing table together.

We have a dresser that was being passed around our family and after my sister got married she didn't need it anymore, so it got passed down to us.  We put it in the closet for extra storage.  I just had to hang up some of his clothes! I know I'll have to take them all down again but I had to see what they looked like in his room.  ;)

I'm going to do a collage of eight 8x10 prints above the babies bed.  I have a few of them already framed, a few more that need to be framed and a few more still on the way.  I want to hang them 4x4 over the crib.  Here's what I have framed so far.

The only other furniture being added to the room is a rocker/glider and a book case.  I have some cute books and toys for the bookcase.  Then all I have to do is finalize the decorations.  I think I have a pretty good idea of what I want, I just need to finalize the details and get approval from the hubby.  I'm so excited for the room to be coming together.

I'll post more pics of the progress or maybe I'll have it done soon and can show you the final product!  Only 79 more days (give or take a few) until we have a little one ready to enjoy his new room!

I hope ya'll have a great weekend!

Baby Bump Update - 5th Edition

Well I'm 28 weeks pregnant now!  I can't believe we only have 81 days left!  That is so crazy.  You can catch up on the previous 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th bump updates if you like.  If not, that's cool too.  :)

Dr. Visit:
I just went to the Dr. on Friday.  All things are good.  The babies heartbeat was 144 and I've gained a total of 18 lbs, which is fine I guess.  I know I'll gain more but it's just weird seeing that number on the scale.  But whatever is best for baby!  The Dr. told me I'll start going to see her every two weeks now.  I can't believe it's that time already.  We get to have another ultrasound on the 18th so that's exciting!

Bump:

26 weeks

27 weeks

28 weeks

Food Cravings:
Anything sweet!  I'm not sure what it is about pregnancy and ice cream but ice cream is so great right now.  Of course, I've always loved ice cream and anything chocolate but now I can't get enough of either.  This worries me a little bit.  I just don't want to add unnecessary, unhealthy weight.  I'm going to try and eat better. . . Try!  Other than the sweets, I feel like I make descent if not good decisions about what I eat.  What really needs to happen is a trip to the gym!  But that's another discussion.  :)

Sleep:
I have my good days.  Last night, for example, I slept like a log.  But more often than not, I'm tossing and turning and up and down.  It's not a horrible nights sleep but definitely not as refreshing as I'd like.  I think I may keep Curtis up too.  He probably wouldn't tell me if I was though.  He's nice like that.

Movement:
Baby boy is moving around a lot. His movements are getting a lot stronger and I think he's getting big enough to where I think I felt his head once and I think I felt his bum too or maybe it was his back, who knows!  KOC - Kind of Crazy (that one's for you, Becky).

Well, I have more pics of the babies room so I'll post an update on that soon.  I'm loving the way it's coming together.  I hope ya'll have a great rest of the week!

Weekend Recap

Happy April!  I had fully intended on updating you with baby bump pictures and with baby room pictures but for some reason the jump drive I used has blurred and smeared all of my beautiful pics into a nasty mess.  So, I will try again tonight and re-download the pics.

But for now you can get a quick recap of my weekend.  I know you're just DYING to find out what I've been up to this weekend. ;)

Friday - I worked until 8:30!  Horrible, I know!  It's a long story, but basically we had to complete a website on Friday and all day we kept running into technical issues.  So. . . basically that was not fun.

Saturday - I slept in a little bit (because I can for now) and then did housework.  I left after lunch to go to Beaumont for my baby sisters 18th birthday.  We had so much fun!  The weather was really nice, my parents were boiling crawfish - which were DELISH! and we had some yummy cake and ice cream (music to a pregnant ladies ears).  I really enjoyed hanging with my family and my girl Alyssa!  Oh and while I was gone, my wonderful hubby put together the babies crib!  yay!

Sunday - Well, ya know, we were running a little bit late for church so we decided to try a new church down the street from our house.  We had been talking about doing this for awhile, but just hadn't yet.  It was a good visit, I think we might visit the church again at some point.  Then we went to lunch at a moving sushi bar, which was a new and thrilling experience.  (ok, maybe not thrilling, but cool).  Then we went home and put together the changing table.  THEN we went downtown to Discovery Green to see Pat Green and Kenny Chesney.  The weather was so great, the concerts were free and we had our good friends with us.  It was a lot of fun, but made for a late night.

All in all, I had a great weekend.  Stay tuned for more updates soon!

Love ya,
Stef
