No Seriously, Don't

My friend Sana, who is single-handedly responsible for adding the word 'seriously' into every sentence I say, is a great gal. She's funny, smart, pretty and she lives in the coolest city ever - San Francisco (which in turn makes her cool-er by default). Hey by the way, Sana - when can I come visit?!

Anyway, she showed me a guest blog she wrote about fanny packs. It's so funny and tells an important message that we all should be reminded of - "Don't bring back the fanny pack". I want us all to take a moment, read the post, and give some serious thought as to whether or not a fanny pack will be making a comeback in your life. :)

Fanny-Pack…don’t call it a come back. No seriously, don’t. - by Sana

P.S. I do not mean to offend anyone who has ever and/or ever will sport a fannie pack - you know I love you! ;)

Heat Wave

Holy Smokes Batman - IT'S SO HOT!!!

And it's still June - what will we do when August hits?  Melt?  Passout?  Never leave the house?  I think so.

If you remember this post, I love my birthday, but the one and only thing I don't like about my birthday is it's in stinkin August! Growing up, the only type of party we could even THINK of having was a swim party - because who can do anything else but submerge yourself in cold water during the month of August. Seriously!

Oh and I heard on the news this morning that the concrete on an access road here in Houston buckled yesterday from the heat! What the? How the? Oh my....! I'm seriously praying that we don't have a hurricane anytime soon. If we were without A/C for any amount of time this summer, I'm sure I'll cry.

Anway, now that I'm done being dramatic and pointing out how stinking hot it is... I'll move on with my day.

Cheers!

TGIF: Pandora Radio

I'm so glad it's Friday and I'm so glad to have PANDORA radio on these long Friday work hours.  I discovered PANDORA a few years ago and it's a great online radio site.  I love that you can customize it and you get up to 100 stations for free.  I've actually hit 100 stations before but I've deleted some in order to add others.  The only frustrating thing about PANDORA is that you can setup a station based on an artist or song you like but it'll sometimes plays songs that I don't believe belong on that station.  There is also a limit on how many times you can skip a song.  But, hey, it's free, so I'm not complaining.

If you have a PANDORA channel, what are your stations?  I've listed some of mine below.  For those of you that know me, are you surprised by some of my stations?

80's, AC/DC, Van Morrison, Adele, The Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Bob Marley, Pete Yorn, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Etta James, Books & Dunn

Cake, Chris Tomlin, Colbi Cailat, Coldplay, Dashboard Confessionals, David Crowder, Johnny Cash, Diana Krall, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Duffy, Elvis, Feist, Gavin DeGraw, Glee Cast

Kaiser Chiefs, Modest Mouse, Newsboys, Nora Jones, Ok Go, Reba McEntire,  Sugarland, Taylor Swift, The Ting Tings, Frank Sinatra, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum.

Oh and another thing, you can customize what it's playing.  For examle, you can listen to only country stations or you can manually pick the stations you want it to play through.  Very good for when you are in a certain 'mood'.  :)

Baby Aubrey

Yay for baby Aubrey!  My cousin and his wife had their first baby on June 7th and she's so beautiful.  Unfortunately she was born with some major complications and the reports were bad at first.  Her bloodflow was cut off in the womb for an unknown amount of time and the fear is she may face permanent affects from that.  It's still unknown what problems she may or may not face, but she's getting so much better and has improved so much over her short life and today is a major milestone, she's taking a bottle!  This is a huge blessing and we look forward to many more positive reports about Aubrey!  I know our God is all-powerful and can do anything!

I met her on Sunday in the NICU and she's so adorable.  I can't wait to hold her again.  We're still praying for Brandon, Erin and Aubrey!

My Latest Song

I have a confession - I'm not really a Dave Matthews fan.  I hope you don't hate me for saying that.  I know alot of people really love his music, but I just can't get into it.  However, I recently heard a song from his album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, called You and Me.  I really love the lyrics and I'm listening to it alot lately.

What do you think?

The Sweetest Place on Earth

Yesterday I went to Dylan's Candy Bar in the Galleria and WOW!  I have never been to a better candy store.  I wanted to buy everything I saw.  It was so cool, I felt like a kid again!  They had ice cream, bins upon bins of candy, novelty items and every type of wrapped candy you could ever think of.  They had the coolest wall of Pez dispensers, tables made of gum balls, giant chocolate bunnies and THESE awesome rain boots!

Everywhere I turned, I was saying "Oh I LOVE ____ (insert candy name here)".  Of course I walked out without buying anything because my dentist, my wallet and my waist line would kill me, but I wanted to buy everything so that counts for something.  :)

I can't imagine how cool that place must be if you're younger than your 20's.  :)

3 Day Weekend = Amazing

I'm so glad we had a three day weekend.  I love it when that happens.  I love it even more when we have no major plans but to hang out and relax.  Which is exactly what we did.  We slept in, visited family, had some friends over, grilled some steaks and broke out the guitar hero!  It was a great weekend.

I do want to thank everyone who has or who is serving in our armed forces.  I am very thankful for the freedoms given to me as an American and I cannot re-pay those who fought for those freedoms.  Thanks to my cousin and my grandfathers!

Now. . . yay for a 4 day week, may it pass by quickly!
